1. Why can’t communities bigger than 20,000 people enter?
We want to make sure this gig goes somewhere that is well off the beaten track for most band tours.
2. Can a community larger than 20000 people support another community’s entry?
Yes. A larger community can get behind a neighbouring community’s entry. Support can be given in the form of infrastructure for the event, signatures on the petition, virtually any element of the competition.
3. What are the judges looking for?
Our judges will be looking for the most complete and well thought out entry. We need to know that when this show hits town, there’s a well-oiled machine ready to support it. Remember that this show will almost certainly create considerable excitement and disruption and so plans to handle this (like traffic control) are essential. The additional infrastructure that the community will have to provide isn’t cheap so this has to be taken into consideration.
4. Can alcohol and food be sold at Triple J’s One Night Stand?
Food yes, alcohol no. Local vendors can be included in the planning for the event. Unofficial souvenirs or merchandise for the event cannot be sold.
5. Can people from neighbouring towns come to the show?
Absolutely. The more the merrier. We expect people to come from a vast area surrounding the show and that’s the idea.
6. Can a town enter more than once?
No. Only one entry will be accepted per community. If we receive more than one entry we will only accept the first entry received. This is meant to be a community effort, so we expect that your single entry should contain the very best elements that your town can manage.
7. Do we have to use the official petition form for our petition?
No but we would prefer it if you did. Makes the signatures easier to count.
