audience comments

Here's what you had to say about the Splendour in the Grass performance!

aFan
I saw them in perth and they played great music but didnt talk to the audience. I hope they were more captivating with a massive audience like Splendour

alfred gorman
no but i saw them in perth at their own gig and they were brilliant. I was a bit of a fan before, but now Ive seen em live I just love em and have all their albums. They are tight as and the guitar interplay (no pun intended) is just stunningly accurate. The lead guitarists picking was awesome. It takes a while to get into their sound, but once youre in youre hooked. I like to say theyre a combination of Joy Division, Televsion and the Pixies. But a more mod-rock version with a bit of gothness about them. Particularly the bass player who just tears the shit out of bass with his plunging basslines. After so many average bloody rock bands have been hyped up so much lately its great to see a 'proper real' band get down to business and deliver such an amazing set full of their best songs from both albums (but no NYC!) Beautifully started with Next Exit (wtf is tying on a tight one anyway? shooting up?) Evil and Take You on a Cruise were my favs. People stop whinging about them not being all chatty and smiley! This aint Australian Idol! That would totally ruin their intensity and vibe of the concert. He said thanks and sorta smirked, thats enough for me.

Amandah
I got crushed againts a barrier for 6 hours waiting for them and would do it all over again just to hear them play one song

angie
bland, monontonous and completly uninteresting to watch. after hearing such good reviews and having triple j hearld their existence i was bitterly disappointed. would not go and see them again if they paid me.

Belinda Niesler
Interpol were far by the best ever!I am still mesmerized at the fact that i was there!

Blake Barnard
Of course the greatest band on the planet is going to put on a gig you will never forget.
Interpol A1 5 Stars

courtney
i've broken my rib cage after being crushed against the barrier and stood for seven hours straight but it was worth it even if i couldn't hear paul over the singing of the crowd.
friday at the enmore can't come soon enough!

Damien
WHAT IS INTERPOL'S PROBLEM? They played well, but for a band to be good performers they firstly have to look like the want to be there. They singer looked bored with a constant plastic look on his face. Their music was good, but live, they were strongly outdone by everyone else on the night, even Tim Finn.

Dana
They were amazing. I went into the gig expecting them to be all 'new york cool' ala the strokes but what they did was so much more then that. They played one of the best sets of the weekend... really energetic and they really seemed to enjoy being there. Really awesome!

estella
gosh. highlight of the weekend. just amazing. intro's sigh. i wish they had talked to the crowd more... but blew my mind nevertheless.

Gavin
Good, and i klike them, but not as great as everyone else is raving on about.

Griff
Yeah i saw interpol they were really good. I was right up the front and saw everything. They are so different and its fantastic. It was the first time ive ever seen the bass player smile haha.

Harry
Best set of the weekend by far!

One of the great appeals about Interpol is that they keep a dark profile by not trying to the typical cliche banter with the crowd in between songs.
Whilst some would see this as boring, I found it to completely suit the serious style of Interpol - heavy basslines, deep vocals, love/hate lyrics, and an attitude to match. Perfect!

Bloc Party were awesome, and Interpol were even better!

WE AIN'T GOING TO THE TOWN, WE'RE GOING TO THE CITY!!

ihl
These guys are fantastic... if you think Antics is good do yourself a favour and buy Turn on the Bright Lights...its twice as good.

jaden b
interpol made me wet my pants they killed splendour in the grass, im complete

Jimmy
probably the highlight of the 2 days, with a selection of songs from both albums, the band were able to transfer their sound to the from their albums to the live stage amazing well.

John R
Sooooo good. The bass player actually smiled at one point which is rare..... Performed without a hitch and the crowd loved it....

kate
The Best
it's always awesome when you come away from a gig knowing that a band you really like are actually musicians.

Kathryn
they were unreal and i was highly impressed! woo hoo!

Kerrie
yeah they rocked, mind you there were a few blank faces when they played a few unknown songs, but everyone was boppin all thru the set GO INTERPOL

Lachlan
Fantastic set by another fine UK group!

laura
recorded music will never do any justice again.

Laura Kovic
My God they were so amazing! I still can't believe I've actually seen them! My friend and I were pretty close to the stage, about third row, which was fantastic. Interpol have a tendency to come on stage and not speak to the crowd at all, but Paul Banks actually said a few words at least, and he seemed to be enjoying himself! Wonderful, I never wanted it to end.

Lisa
oh they were undeniably rad. All the lead singers were having issues with the backing amps. and paul went off a bit about it saying they didn't deserve the applause. But they needn't have worried...i was completely mesmerized the entire time. The start with 'Narc' was so sweet when everyone was singing along. bloody brill!

Mala
Intense rock with a dash of class. Brilliant.

Rachelle
They are the most amazing live band, I was lucky to be right up the front. I wished they had played closer to the front of the stage. Love them beyond belief and can't wait until they come back!!

Rhiannon
Interpol were amazing. I was right down the front and it was so awsome. They had one of the best stage performances other than moby.

Saleigh
The atmosphere was phenomenal! I remember them saying to the crowd half way thro.. 'It's not even that good but thankyou'. When you love the music , it's just intensified when you can watch them play

sarah m
Interpol were amazing! I had to stay on the barrier all day (eating sandwiches) to get my position, but i'd do it all over again in a flaah.
The guitarist, Daniel, was amazing to watch. His feet had little minds of their own - flailing about as they did.

Brilliant.

Simon
OMG! An extremely tight and amazing performance. Seeing them live just adds that missing link when listening to the studio albums. I GOT THE DRUMSTICK!!! (sorry foxy, next time i swear it's yours) love music. love splendour. love life!

sommer
they were angel-like..loved every moment of the set and was completely mesmerized......very inspiring and my love and respect for them has grown even more. very impressed

Stella!!
Theyre just brilliant. and even better live. Possibly best band in the world at the moment?? and im talking full rock band here. If you dont dig em, or dont like em cos they arent all happy, you have no taste, go listen to some other twee crap. Oh and just had to correct Lachlan - Theyre from New York City man!!

tiff
words cannot do it justice.
Raw inspiration.

Tim
brilliant, sounded great and the crowd went crazy. the band are in a league of their own and provided possibly the best set of the weekend in my opinion.

X
I didn't get to see Interpol, because I missed out on tickets (damn that english assignment that kept me from being able to skip school to get tickets), but I just want to ask WHY THE HELL DID YOU HAVE TO STOP BROADCASTING AFTER BLOC PARTY, THE SET BEFORE INTERPOL?!?
