The immeasurably talented URTHBOY has got us all in a sweat over his excellent release The Signal. Featuring the infectious hit We Get Around, the album showcases URTHBOY’S awesome MC skills and some quality songwriting to boot. The album’s impressive cast on the album includes Mia Dyson, Hau (Koolism), Muph (Muph & Plutonic), Ozi Batla, The Tongue, Indigenous soul-man Radical Son and singer Mark Pearl. A former member of Hermitude and co-frontman of one of Australia’s foremost hip-hop crews, The Herd, URTHBOY has proved he can do it solo too.
He says: ‘I'm terribly pleased to be nominated for the 2007 J Award and I didn't expect it at all - so that's especially cool. triple j are still the strongest source of consistent radio support for independent music in Australia alongside community radio. triple j's influence is felt throughout this big country and we're indebted to the passion of the people at the station.’
With production handled by Count Bounce (TZU) and Elgusto (Hermitude), The Signal is a dramatic follow-up album to the highly acclaimed Distant Sense of Random Menace (2004).
