On her second album, Clare Bowditch has proven herself as one of Australia's premier singer/songwriters. With clever production from Marty Brown of Melbourne band Art of Fighting, What Was Left is 13 songs dealing with themes of grief, hope and love. It contains Clare's raw and beautiful story telling that takes listeners on melodic journeys of heartache and joy.
This is the second album from Clare Bowditch & The Feeding Set since their entry into the Australian music scene in 2004 with debut album, Autumn Bone, recorded in the front room of Clare's Melbourne home. The indie Feeding Set is made up of Marty Brown on drums, J Walker on guitar, French horn player and vocalist Libby Chow and bass player, Warren Bloomer.
Clare was rapt to hear the nomination saying "How about that? Our first ever award nomination, and it's the first ever J Award! The only way of describing this honour is to say that we feel truly thrilled and 'well-wicked' within ourselves that What Was Left has been recognised as a contender for triple j's most distinguished J Award for Australian album of the year."
"This album was a love project and we dedicate this nomination with that same sentiment to our Producer, Marty Brown, who spent oh so many a night curled up next to the bare-bones of these songs, dreaming of ways to reveal 'What Was Left' Thank you again."
