Wolfmother.  Hilltop Hoods.  The Panics.  That’s three great bands and three worthy winners of the J Award - triple j’s prize for Australian album of the year.

In the three short years of its existence, the J Award has gained a reputation for earmarking the best talent this country has to offer.

There’s so much talent that in 2007, triple j introduced the Unearthed J Award – awarded by triple j to an Unearthed artist who has demonstrated the most musical growth and shows the greatest potential to make a contribution to the Australian music industry (taken out for the first time by young punkers Young & Restless).

In 2008, triple j is proud to introduce a new category to the freshly-minted J Awards (plural!).  The Australian Music Video of the Year will be selected by triple j tv for its outstanding achievement as an Australian musical video work of art, based on its creativity, originality and its technical excellence.

Nominees for the Australian Album Of The Year award and the Music Video Of The Year award will be announced throughout the year.  The Unearthed Award nominations will be announced during Ausmusic Month in November.
