You Need To Hear: Stand Atlantic - 'GIRL$'

The Sydney four piece have smashed back into view with this sizzler.()

When it comes to music that empowers women to be themselves and tell everyone else to rack off, the limit does not exist.

So the new offering from Sydney's Stand Atlantic – with features from Lynn Gunn of PVRIS and Amalia of Bruses – is a welcome addition to the "f**k you" playlist.

With searing lyrics and a hooky chorus that lodges in your brain, GIRL$ doesn't just pick apart the expectations of women, it smashes them to pieces.

The track is reminiscent Kylie Minogue's 'Come Into My World' while also feeling like the other side of the coin to Charli XCX's 'Boys' — two women who are also consistently defying the presumptions of women in pop – this is a globe-wrapping anthem for everyone who's done with sticking to someone else's narrative.

"I feel like the message of the song speaks for itself, I wanted to show my appreciation for women and personally, my experience growing up knowing I was attracted to women but still feeling like I had to fit the mould of the male gaze, just based on the way I was influenced by a male dominated society."

"I wrote it for anyone who's ever felt squashed by the strange and subtle pressures society can place on young people based off old as shit paradigms."
